Should there be a world of financially wealthy individuals or should money become obsolete to the world?
Philosophy of Culture & Society - Money Values
If you were asking this question at a different time, I would say “Money should become obsolete in the world”. However, I am starting to understand the value of reality and money. Today’s ways of life require a substantial amount of money to live. Our necessities aren’t valued by the “governmental society” that is always left behind us. Therefore, we are responsible for the maintenance of life, which can be a financial burden for many. Everyone should be worth more than a million dollars and everyone deserves to be financially wealthy. Especially Black Americans or anyone who has been oppressed should have access to everything needed to survive in life. The opportunity to create generational wealth allows families to have stability throughout their entire lives. However, a majority of individuals who have access to a substantial amount of money tend to forget moral ethics when it comes to creating wealth. Yet it’s debatable that “moral ethics” was in the play!
The evidence is in the pudding from all aspects of life right now. Money can’t buy you happiness but can make your life happier than before. Look around, and you tell me how money can either change your life or someone else's life. Wealth could change the lives of many homeless and less fortunate individuals. Too cliche? Well, wealth could be beneficial for those in abusive situations, help mothers provide for their kids, help families affected by genocides, and, to be honest, the list could go on. When thinking about reality, we are in a world where money helps us survive. Therefore, I am considering the practicality of the question. Also, because wealth has negatively impacted our world and has maintained a relentless reputation for harboring unsatisfied lifestyles for others.
However, if money wasn’t an option, I believe we would be better off. Our society would have a better chance at freedom without the restraints of money and territorial impacts imposed by those claiming to be in charge. With that being said, I refuse to live in a fantasy world, hoping that one day we will have a life worth living without money tugging us down. Life has made it very clear that we will need resources like money and other “problematic” entities to help us survive. This statement alone scares the life out of me but it does make me want to work smarter than harder for everything I am worth. We all could pretend that wealth doesn’t serve us or that it is “the root of all evil,” but we would be selling ourselves short based on the impacts it has remitted on this world.
The answer to both questions has a deep connection to the way society is uncovered in everyday life. The reality of our society has made it harder for us to live without wealth while making it extremely harder for those trying to accumulate wealth. The rich want to eat the poor when the poor just want to eat. Some wealthy individuals strive to make sure that they are the only ones wealthy and are the only ones producing for the next generation. This causes our communities to clash when they could use their resources to help all communities prosper. Yet, that would bring their value down and create an equal way of living. And who really wants that?
The way you ate this up!!!!
Currently healing the ick that money gives me. I grew up poor and saw the ramifications of not having money. It wasn't just "I don't have enough food to eat." or "the lights are off this month." It was the forced isolation that the lack of money caused. People were so judgmental and it cultivated a resentment in me for those that have money. Now, I'm grown with a complex about a resource that's necessary to live how I want to live. Thanks for the thought provoking piece.
