Netflix's hit reality show Selling Sunset has returned for season eight with its controversial drama and unorthodox fashion sense when it comes to professionalism.
The season starts off with unaired drama between Mary and Chelsea. Someone must have told Mary that she had to step up. Her story lines, and her drama, because the way she is stepping ten toes down on Chelsea is insane.
Although Chelsea wears clothing that may be provocative or uncomfortable to anyone who calls themselves a professional, it is important to recognize the difference between respectability professionalism and TV/film professionalism. Real estate is such a highly demanding career path, and a lot of people believe that it is a corporate setting. Yes, in some cases, it is a corporate setting, but nine times out of ten, It is not. Let’s all be clear on the fact that not only is it not a corporate setting, but this is also Hollywood.
Living in California and being a real estate agent comes with more than just being able to talk and professionally get things done; clearly, it’s also about how confident, resilient, and ready to work you are. That is something that Chelsea will always be. Of course, I don’t always agree with what she wears in the settings. However, I would not stop her from wearing it if I was her boss. Chelsea is not the person to perform respectability politics because not only does she know her worth, but she knows that she is more than capable of getting a sale no matter what she wears. Therefore, I applaud Jason and Brett for partially standing up for Chelsea in the midst of Mary, trying to humiliate her in front of them. That was the most disgusting behavior that I’ve seen from Mary this far.

I won’t keep talking about what she chooses wears, because at the end of the day, every single woman in that office has worn something that is provocative or inappropriate for certain occasions. No one, including Mary has said anything to the other women about it, so therefore, Chelsea should be left alone. While also understanding that it is up to no one to judge them for what they wear. The cast
My judgments are only based on how they treat one another. This season showed me how much most of them hate black women. With the exception of Chrishell, Emma, Amanza, and Brett, the cast is intimidated by how put together Chelsea is. I mentioned Brett because he is clearly in love with her. Am I the only one who sees it?
Anyway, when it comes to the franchise itself, black women have been overlooked and painted out as bad friends or a sh*t starters when in reality, it’s some caucasian woman crying in her confessionals. For example, the feud between Brandi Marshall and Alex Hall was clearly a misunderstanding on Alex’s part. She was so passive aggressive towards her then eventually treated her differently from everyone else.
Speaking of treating others differently, Selling Tampa was robbed of the opportunity to affect the world. Selling Tampa is a full cast of black women realtors who was taking Netflix by storm. After two seasons the show was cancelled and I’m pretty sure we all know why. You can’t tell me a group of black women aren’t entertaining enough.
“Once the cancelation was made public, cast member, Juawana Colbert, spoke out and blamed Selling Tampa for being called on racism. From the looks of it, some fans agreed and noted the lack of promotion Selling Tampa received. "Of course it did.” - according to ScreenRant
I don’t want to blame this on The O Group, but at some point, the patterns and evidence tend to point you in the right direction. Selling Sunset franchise has a hard time understanding and valuing the voices of black women. Amanza is lucky to have some type of privilege because her days would be numbered, too.
Hear Me Out: Chelsea leaves The O Group and her husband, and moves to Tampa with her kids. This opens the door for another season of Selling Tampa and Chelesa joins the brokerage.
My Work: The Papers
Listen! Mary is in on my shit list along with Alex Hall. Both those women need to be knocked down a peg or two. Also Mary calling out Chelsea over her outfit felt racist.
Lovely piece! I enjoyed reading.
I wish you could have seen my face when I saw the title 😆🥳
We ride for Chelesa!!!!
