Allowing music to take over and answer all my questions about life is something I will always make space for. The seductive way of storytelling is memorizing, which is a unique skill. My current playlist has some tracks on the same drive that make me want to converse until dawn.
American Psycho - .grouptherapy
.grouptherapy is a duo of two creatives who are former child entertainers. The group consists of Jadagrace, Coy Stewart, and formerly Tyrel J. Williams. This song derives from the “THE ADDENDUM - i was mature for my age, but i was still a child” as one of many favorites that sheds light on creativity, growing up, and having fun. Yet, “American Psycho” is one of the songs you can listen to on repeat for a connection to each. So many questions were raised, but in a good way. I am very intrigued by this song because it makes the inner anger feel as if it were seen in a seraphic way.
“Women violate me 'cause I dabble in the faggotry
N*ggas violate me 'cause I'm happy, shit's a tragedy”
N*ggas violate me 'cause I'm happy, shit's a tragedy”
Angels - Tinashe ft. Kaash Paige
Tinashe, Tinashe, Tinashe!!!!! She’s a young icon, and I enjoy listening, analyzing, and creatively expressing myself with this song. The beat, the frequency, the lyrics, and Kaash Paige’s musical empathy on the track are such a gracious moment in time. Who are the angels? How do they affect the mental state of the main character? Is the main character Tinashe? We deserve a video for this song because it definitely helps with my studies. Help me, Tinashe!!!!
Tru - Lloyd
“Tru” is still one of my favorite songs of all time because of its beautiful storytelling and the sound of Lloyd’s voice gracing us. This song is emotional, entertaining, and liberating in many iconic ways. It offers a perspective into his life and many others’ lives of individuals who seek the truth from within.
“This is me so please accept me for who I am
And please accept me for what I do
I'm just doing everything that I can
Cause all I wanna be is true
So please accept me for who I am”
Dreamville - Sacrifices ft. EARTHGANG, J. Cole, Smino & Saba
This song is a hit but also a philosophical thought about life. “Sacrifices” are something we all think we have to do to be successful when, in reality, they cause so much drama that you can escape from them. Every artist on this song delivered a masterpiece version of lyrical art in such a beautiful way. This song will make you think about every chapter of your life.
Self Care - Mac Miller
Mac was the king of philosophically entertaining music. Most importantly, his audience understood and valued his influence. To this day, “Self Care” has been such an impactful force in my life that it gives me insight into his mindset.
“I switched the time zone (yeah), but what do I know? (Yeah)
Spendin' nights hitchhikin', where will I go?
I could fly home (yeah), with my eyes closed (yeah)
But it'd get kinda hard to see, that's no surprise though
And you could find me (yeah), I ain't hidin' (yeah)
I don't move my feet when I be glidin'
I just slide in (yeah) and then I roll out”
